Cartilage may be the most wondrous component of the shark. Their skeletons are made entirely of cartilage, a hard, gristly but flexible material. Unlike bone, it has no blood vessels. Shark Cartilage consists of calcium, phosphorous and an acidic mucco- polysaccaride / protein complex that also contains collagen and complex carbohydrates called glycosaminoglycans, including chondroitin sulfate and glucosamine sulfate. It has antibacterial and antiviral substances and many nutrients that work together synergystically. Sharks have roamed the seas since prehistoric times, surviving more successfully than almost any other species. Only recently have we begun to unravel the mysteries within the sharks' bodies. They have a highly effective and unusual immune system, which helps them to heal their wounds quickly, and keeps them largely free of infection. A large amount of antibodies circulate throughout their blood streams, which protect them from bacteria and viruses, as well as chemicals and other carcino- gens. There is evidence that this protection is transferable to humans and other animals.* * Dr. I Wm. Lane |

Ocean Treasures ~ For Pets ~™ is environmentally conscious. Sharks are not caught for their cartilage only. We do not use sharks that are endangered or over-fished, but are used in co-operation with the human seafood industry. |

|
Any shark cartilage product, to ensure quality and reliability, must be properly processed without rendering the active protein fibers ineffective. Much research, testing, and management is necessarily involved in development and production of the highest quality shark cartilage products suitable for human consumption as well as for pets. Ocean Treasures™ offers only the best cartilage available. |
